Show & Tell: Episode 1 – Full Colour Process with The Goonies
Welcome to Show & Tell: Episode #1. For those of you who remember the ’80’s, we’ve combined schooling with nostalgia. The focus of this lesson is to show how full-colour process, or CMYK screen printing works. Thanks to King Screen for the video.
Full-colour artwork is separated into layers of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. Once exposed on to 4 separate screens, the screens are registered and each colour is printed separately. Much like your home computer printer, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks are layered to create a full spectrum of colours.
Full-colour process on dark garments requires a white base screen to enable the ink colours to be vibrant once laid over top.
Just a word of warning, if you can’t stand Cyndi, mute is recommended.
